we’re better together

We all need community.  One positive thing we’ve seen as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic is a realization of this on a personal level and among small businesses.  Perhaps the removal of our physical ability to meet face-to-face has heightened the awareness that we really do need to connect with those around us regularly.  And we notice that you photographers are pretty darn good at it.

We had thought about launching a lifethreads Facebook group as a forum for community (and we may still do that) – but it was faster and easier to set up a new Instagram hashtag to get the ball rolling: #lifethreadsconnect.

we want to hear from you

The idea here is that you populate this # more than us.  We of course will post helpful resources, tips etc. into it.

But mostly, we want to hear what you’re doing – because if it’s helped you – it’ll be sure to help someone else. It’s a little bare in there right now, BUT with your help that will change.

We hope that this will become a place where you can share tips of how you’re surviving the changes of COVID-19. How you are finding your new norm, photographic inspirations, successes, a new business idea you had, a tip for increasing your product sales, how you’re surviving working from home maybe as a parent and now home-school teacher too, etc.

We’ve been touched by the heartfelt responses and notes that have been submitted with your personal projects to date.  They share some of these stories.  With permission, we’re sharing a couple of them with you, as we think they capture the heart of what we wanted to begin with this promotion and #lifethreadsconnect: building a community with you our customers.

We are truly all in this together and together, we will get through this stronger and the better for it.

personal project stories

“Thank you so much for your generosity in this crazy season! This is my personal project. It’s my daughter’s wedding, which was shot by another photographer not by me (I’m the MOB in the green floral dress). I wanted to give my daughter and her husband an album, as they both lost their jobs due to the coronavirus situation and can’t afford it right now. It’s a small thing but I appreciate you doing this so that I can give them a tangible reminder of a beautiful day! ” (www.wendylees.ca) Photography by @artandtheaerialist

“My little girls and I have been in quarantine for 2 weeks now. So we have been taking photos every day to document life in quarantine and I want to make an album…will help my kids look back on this weird moment in time. Hoping they remember all the good and the fun we were able to have instead of the scary parts.🖤”  @sydneyshire_
